  • Prologue
Previously on Angel Eyes, Dong Joo has finally found his childhood love Soo Wan twelve years later. He befriends with a neurosurgeon Kang Ji Woon after taking the mantle as section chief in the emergency room of Seyoung hospital. While saving Soo Wan from a delirious patient, he discovers another world unknowingly constructed by his surrogate father. After rescuing a baby from the fire incident, Dylan spends his time drinking with Soo Wan, unaware of his true identity, to his heart content until she passes out…
  • Detailed summary
Soo Wan finally wakes up at the lounge room of the Observatory realizing Dylan has left. While descending from the hill, Dylan watches her leaving the premises from a nearby location.

The next day, Soo Wan criticizes Dylan’s impolite and rude manners before heading out towards the restaurant she used to date with Dong Joo. Min Soo joins her for the breakfast only to end up arguing for their respective jobs. Min Soo reveals she will be heading to the hospital meeting someone. Soo Wan plays a trick by quickly leaving the restaurant forcing Min Soo to pay the bill.
As Soo Wan prepares meeting Dylan at the hospital, one of Ji Woon’s underling colleagues leeches up to his superior by commentating the dispute between Soo Wan and Dylan at the emergency room. He even oversteps his position by gossiping against Dylan’s leadership. Ji Woon doesn’t take the news seriously and even acknowledges Dylan’s presence.

The scene moves on with the paediatrics department. Dylan comforts the baby he rescued from the fire incident as Soo Wan observes him at the door. She brings up his clothes and offers a meal. Dylan tells her they don’t have anything to give & take anymore and declines her proposition.

As Min Soo investigates the hospital, she recalls Dylan’s note and calls him with her handphone. She misses the opportunity of meeting him as an emergency arises from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) department forcing Dylan interrupting the call.

At the end of the day by the rescue worker’s workplace, Ji Woon treats the whole team by buying their dinner with pizza and soft drinks. When the couple is heading home, they discuss about the recent events and Ji Woon encourages her fiancée to build good terms with Dylan. As they enjoy their presence together, Teddy Seo and team leader Ki Woon Chan watches them with a smile.

Meanwhile, Dylan spends his time recording on his laptop presumably adding his files into Soo Wan’s iPod.

Next morning, Soo Wan visits the orphanage by looking the baby from the fire incident. The leading nun reveals Dylan took care of the child transfer. The doctor is now treating children outside the orphanage only to find Soo Wan successfully rescuing him from a zealous toddler.

Meanwhile at Young Ji’s office, she insists about the terms of marriage with Jin Woo and reveals she has been spying on her son with an informant. She then meets with Jae Beom about Dylan’s length of contract and shows a jealousy against him stealing the spotlight from her son.

Soo Wan directly criticizes Dylan’s manners while she takes a call from Jin Woon making him uncomfortable. It is revealed Dylan is invited to a dinner.

Once at the table, the trio talks about their past and hobbies. Jin Woo comments how Dylan’s early life reflects the dream of Soo Wan’s first love. As Dylan grows uncomfortable seeing the couple having a great time, he helps Soo Wan setting back the plates only being stuck in a profound stare making the woman losing her grip with one of the glasses falling down the floor. She cuts herself as Jin Woon overreacts saving her before parting ways with Dylan.

Meanwhile, Teddy Seo receives his first paycheck. He passes a lonesome night as he bought complete undergarment for his deceased grandmother and puts it on a mannequin. On a patrol duty at the fire station, Team Leader Kim Woon Chan misinterprets the scene and thinks Teddy Seo is a pervert.

As they make amends in the car, the leader invites him for a warmful dinner with his son Jin Mo. It is revealed Jin Mo’s mother passed away and told Teddy Seo he couldn’t tell the truth to his son as he didn’t reach the age of understanding the meaning of death. Team leader made a lie to Jin Mo that his mother went studying in the US.

Soo Wan is confusedly infatuated with Dylan while the other feels depressed affecting the ER’s atmosphere. His work colleagues offer him some relief by taking more responsibilities for the end of the day. Ji Woon prepares for his date at the theaters only to be prevented by a VIP patient requiring an immediate surgery. Soo Wan waits for Ji Woon and offers her spare ticket with Dylan. The movie on the show is called “Bungee Jumping On Their Own.” Soo Wan makes fun of him about his views about first loves being childish. She watches the movie she used to watch with Dong Joo while Dylan contemplates her the whole time being “his movie.”

While being caught in the elevator by guests swarming it, Soo Wan gets to hear Dylan’s heartbeat while her memories come back in a flashy moment. She loses her senses momentarily before leaving the elevator.

Jin Woon is praised by the VIP’s guardian and is offered to partner up with his daughter at the presence of the board director Young Ji and director Jae Beom. The director receives a suspicious call from his junior Choi Jin Sang. Meanwhile, Soo Wan discusses about her feelings with Min Soo. She wonders if it was possible to create memories when someone deeply wishes. Her past memories were like yesterday’s and wonder if it was only an illusion played by her heart.

The scene moves on with both of our heroes recalling their recent and past memories again until they meet in front of the hospital. Soo Wan confronts Dylan again asking him if they have ever met before. Dylan violently drags her into the building wondering if she has feelings for him.

She leaves by noticing his rude behavior and there is no way Dylan could be her first love Dong Joo. Soo Wan then visits her previous residence and recalls her younger self. It is revealed young Soo Wan, after recovering her sight, kept wandering to her old house trying to get news from Dong Joo with no avail. Soo Wan convinces herself to erase her memories.

The next morning, Min Soo meets up with his sunbae Kim Yoo Chul and asks him about Dylan Park’s identity related to Yoo Jung Hwa’s hit-&-run case. The veteran detective is confused about the foreign name brought up to the conversation and doesn’t recall this relative has ever contacted him yet. He doesn’t want to feel more grief because he didn’t manage to solve this investigation case and asks Min Soo taking care of it instead.

Meanwhile, Soo Wan, being sick on her work duty with Teddy, she escorts Dong Joo’s high school teacher turned principal suffering severe abdominal pain to the hospital. While Dylan approaches him by giving a quick diagnosis, the principal immediately recognizes him and screams out his native name: “Dong Joo!”

  • Character analysis
Dong Joo (Dylan) & Soo Wan

Viewers know Dong Joo gave in to a new reality unknowingly constructed by his surrogate father, Yoon Jae Beom. Many of us considered the grab scene to be excessively violent but it offered a convincing context how Dylan wants to wake up Soo Wan from her illusions of first love by showing an improvised and sinister personality from his side. Dong Joo had the necessary emotional support against his own feelings while Soo Wan can easily break down by constantly being reminded of her childhood memories with Dylan's presence. I truly love the parallelism behind the 2001 movie of Lee Byung Hun "Bungee Jumping On Their Own". The focus behind this basically tells us a retold story of that movie. In the near future, our couple will have to face the same odds where the same characters from that movie drastically failed against fate. I acknowledge viewers are frustrated with Soo Wan not successfully connecting the dots behind Dylan's identity after so many obvious clues. It is within her character being naive and strange just as mentioned by her fiancee Ji Woon. On the plus side, I'm giving a commendation to a particular scene where Soo Wan recalls her vision of her younger self at her old residence and tries desperately to erase her memories. The disappeared vision within Soo Wan's subconscious is her attempt of moving on another chapter of her life.

Teddy Seo & Team leader Ki Woon Chan

Teddy Seo is revealed to be a lonely foreigner due to his innocent, selfless and caring personality. This reflection of this character reflects how being so innocent can actually chase away his fellow workers. Even his sunbaes are turned off by his mental capabilities and find him awkwardly strange including Soo Wan. His tender characterization let viewers seeing his charm when he spent a part of his first paycheck for a complete underwear set for his now deceased grandmother. He puts in on a mannequin causing Ki Woon Chan misunderstanding the scene thinking Teddy is a pervert finally showing some relief for our crying viewers. After a quick reconciliation, the team leader invites him for dinner joined with his son Jin Mo. It is known the mother passed away and Woon Chan is afraid of telling the truth to his son because he considers Jin Mo has yet reached a proper age of understanding which reaches Teddy's heart. Morally, it's wrong to make up lies for its own kid but it's also hard for parents dealing this one day. This relationship is kind of unexpected and I wish Teddy could finally find a shelter with Ki Woon Chan coaching him like he was his own older brother.

Young Ji & Jae Beom

It's a tricky relationship in which the writer is slowly presenting us. Young Ji now feels jealousy towards Dylan's leadership capabilities and tangles her interest in a bad way how Dylan could overstep her son Ji Woon stealing the hospital's spotlight. She's actually anxious about Dylan's length of contract and is found to be relieved he's going to be leaving for Boston soon. She cares A LOT about Ji Woon to the point she has admitted that she had the guts spying on him thanks to her informants. On her character synopsis, she used to have a hard life dealing with her husband to the point of leaving him and her infatuation to her son will be ultimately her demise. Having too much love for someone and using it for every reason sorting out problems will overturn the karma against her if she decides to play the typical and evil mother-in-law in kdramas. Her personality makes her the perfect puppeteer controlling her son on the stage and plays Ji Woon according to her expectancy and wishes. She approves Ji Woon's relationship with Soo Wan but ONLY on her terms. As for Jae Beom, the only interest from this episode lies from the suspicious call from his junior colleague Choi Jin Sang which their relationship will be further explained in the next recap analysis.

Ji Woon

Someone in this thread hinted a good point about him being a recovered alcoholic but that still remains pure speculation. He often drinks without the presence of Soo Wan whenever he has the occasion. So far, he's an undeniable likeable character in every way despite the viewers despising him so much with Soo Wan at his side. He truly wants to build a genuine friendship with Dylan and his relationship with Soo Wan is strong enough to keep her within his reach. Their origins story will be revealed next weekend and we will learn more about his whereabouts where he hung out somewhere else while young Soo Wan and Dong Joo were dating. He's now living in his own perfect world and viewers may see his personality changing for the worse once he discovers Dylan's identity. So many threads predicted him being the hit-&-run culprit behind Jung Hwa's case but we have yet seen a concrete evidence about his involvement.
